PollyWhistle

For many years I have worked under the name of PollyWhistle to tell tall tales of small folk and “weirdly beautiful” little people complete with the ephemera that makes up their lives.

Working predominantly in textiles and mixed media, I mix family folklore with imagined stories and snippets of news to create collections of characters. Their stories flutter around me as I make.

It is often only after they have come into being that I realise how they are so often connected in an intricate web of queer events, unplanned acts or simple happenstance. How and why is sometimes obvious, sometimes cryptic and sometimes only for me to truly know. This is my folklore after all.
